A Brave Family on a Mission

“Since 1999, the suicide rate in the U.S. has gone up across all racial and ethnic groups, in both men and women, in both cities and rural areas, and across all age groups below 75. These stunningly consistent trends come from a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report. Overall, the suicide rate has increased nearly 30 percent.” (taken from theatlantic.com 6/8/2018)

In the news early this year:

“Washington State quarterback Tyler Hilinski was found dead in his apartment on Tuesday afternoon of what police have preliminarily determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Pullman Police Department responded to Hilinski’s residence after the rising junior missed practice.”

Tyler Hilinski’s family and friends created H3H in response to the out pouring of love and affection for Tyler during, and after his life. They created a non-profit foundation with the goal of keeping his memory alive and generating the funding to support programs that will help destigmatize mental illness. https://hilinskishope.org/about/

There should be no stigma talking about mental health issues.  Educate yourself about suicide and be there for those who may be contemplating suicide.

Everyday should be suicide prevention day.
