The Flowers of Hawaii

When you step onto any of the Hawaiian Islands you will smell and see the most beautiful  tropical flowers. It seems like the iconic Hawaiian flower is the Bird of Paradise, but my favorite by far is the Plumeria.  The heavenly scent from the velvety petals of this flower is amazing.  I biked past this Plumeria shrub or small tree in the town of Kekaha on the island of Kauai.  I just had to turn around and stop to smell the flowers!

Hawaii’s official state flower is the yellow hibiscus.  However, you will see the hibiscus in a rainbow of colors everywhere you look!

The original quote “stop and smell the flowers” is a perfect way to remind yourself to stop, be present, and focus on the most important things in life.
