A Look Back With an Eye Towards the New Year
On January 1, 2019 I was in Leavenworth Washington. Although there was snow on the ground, it had melted off of the roads and I was able to bundle up for a bike up Ski Hill. The camera is one of my favorite features on my smart phone. I love to look back to see what I was doing in past years using the photos on my phone.
Let the old year out.
Welcome the new one in.
Bury the bad things of the past
As a new year now begins.
Brush away old heartaches.
Learn from our mistakes.
Another year is finally over.
A new dawn awakes.
Make your New Year wishes
As simple as you can.
Pray for peace and love,
Not for wealth or fame.
Adapted from a poem by John P Read
After my bike, I wanted something to warm me up, so I decided to make my favorite tomato soup. This soup reminds me of my summer garden and my mom’s kitchen. We lived a half a block from school and would run home everyday and have a tomato soup and grilled cheese lunch waiting for us in “Edie’s Kitchen”.
