A Walk in the Woods

Taking a walk in the woods feeds my spirit. Scientific research has shown that there is a strong mind and body link. Stress and worry can lead to an upset stomach. Positive connections with others, physical activity and meditation can all reduce stress and improve the ability to deal with an illness or injury. In his book Psychological Trauma, Bessel van der Kolk states those traits shared among stress-resistant people include a sense of personal control, the pursuit of personally meaningful tasks, healthy lifestyle choices and social support. Research has also shown we all need some alone time to do self-exploration in order to discover or rediscover what makes us happy. Health and happiness go hand-in hand!
