Back for a visit
I had made plans to return to Peoria in October to spend more time with family and was so lucky to see and sit on the two memorial benches that had been placed honoring my mom. A bench at Glen Oak Park was a Mother’s Day Gift from my son. What a very special gift for me and all of my siblings Kevan. Edie walked daily in the park for decades. Our entire family spent many happy times walking, jogging, picnicking, fishing/ice skating at the lagoon, sledding, and listening to concerts at the amphitheater. This beautiful city park is a treasure for the City of Peoria!
Another bench, was my family gift to the Methodist College where my mom obtained her nursing degree in 1945. She loved her career as a nurse and was very impressed with the new college campus which she had toured last year.
These special memorials honor her rich personal and professional legacy. Maintaining good health was very important to her and the plaques on both benches relay that message!
