Spirituality is good for you
Aging is inevitable, however how you age is up to you. You may be in your 20’s, 40’s or 60’s, but how you feel is based on the choices you make every day regarding how you are going to take care of yourself-mind, body and spirit. Make healthy choices everyday.
As outlined in the Okinawa Program the National Institute on Aging scholars came to some conclusions regarding which areas of spirituality and religiosity were most likely to affect our health:
- Behavioral-belief in a pure of mind, body and soul often leads to healthier lifestyle choices.
- Social-social support has been linked to reduced mortality in multiple research studies.
- Psychological-organized religion and spiritual traditions provide a means for coping with crisis such as illness and death.
- Physiological-spiritual and religious practices such as meditation and prayer provide a sense of relaxation and inner peace.
Middle age is usually the time when we begin to notice changes in our appearance and physical abilities.
Remember: How you choose to live today directly affects how you will look and feel tomorrow!
