Beauty and peace in nature
Last week I took a short trip over to Vashon Island. The weather was far from perfect, but it felt so right to me early one morning. The sun peeking in through the clouds from the east, the twinkling lights of the jets landing and taking off at Sea-Tac, and the call of the morning birds. I was so grateful to witness such a special sunrise. Watch this entire video to completion. Do you see beauty; do you feel peace?
Maybe those early morning birds singing in the wee hours of the morning wake you up and drive you crazy. Well scientists call this the dawn chorus. and it can start as early as 4:00 a.m. and last several hours. During the dawn chorus their songs are often louder, livelier, and more frequent. According to Wired, most of that singing is from male birds, attempting to attract mates and warn other males away from their territory.
The next time those loud birds wake you up take it as a sign-time to get up, start the day, and go find that special someone and give them a big hug!
Leaving the island is always hard, but then there is always the next trip 🙂
This week is the start of my mom’s favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. She thought it should have much more prominence than it does since it is all about gratitude. Edie supported my desire to show appreciation and be happy:)
